THE FREE WORLD (in development)
Written by Timothy Parish
THE FREE WORLD is based on the dramatic true story of a young man involved in the most unique prison breakout in Australia’s history. On Easter 2002, over a dozen refugees escaped the remote Woomera Detention Centre in the heart of the Australian desert.
The story follows one of these escapees, a young Iranian named AZIZ as he lives moment to moment as a fugitive in Australia, unable to plan for the future, isolated and alone. Although he has escaped prison, he is still not yet free. Only when he stops running, and confronts the forces that seek to imprison him does he find the freedom he has been seeking.
THE FREE WORLD is currently in development with the support of Screen Territory.
A UFO encounter in the Australian outback drives a young man to learn more about the alien contact only to discover that truth is stranger than science fiction.
One night in the bush outside of Darwin, a young man (Thomas White) witnesses an unexplained phenomena in the sky
while camping – which coincides with a sighting of a UFO in the local newspaper the following day. Thomas starts to
question the truth about extra terrestrial contact when a UFO convention is held in the city where he meets a multitude of characters whose wild theories cause him to question his grip on reality.

Undergrowth book #8 > THE JOURNEY BOOK
Edited by Timothy Parish & Rak Razam
Artistic Direction, Design and Art by Timothy Parish (Verb Studios)
The Journeybook is an essential map of hyperspace for the contemporary psychonaut and the uninitiated alike. Travel through time and space and partake of mushrooms at Harvard, hemp in Nimbin, DMT in the Amazon and anti-depressents in the suburbs of the West, to name but a few of the experiences which await you. Dance at Dionysian festivals, meet alchemists in the laboratories of Switzerland, trippers in the corporate highrises of Brisvegas, and journey to the edge of the universe within our anthology’s pages…
The Journeybook is a collection of tales of altered states, essays, history and manifesto for psychedelic culture in the 21st century. It covers the modern usage of sacramental plants and offers insights into traditional and contemporary shamanism, as well as analysis of the current state of global psychedelic culture and its place in a sustainable future.
It features interviews with Terence McKenna (previously unpublished), Dennis McKenna, Daniel Pinchbeck, as well as articles by Rak Razam, Erik Davis, Graham St John, Timothy Parish, Tim Boucher, Dave Cauldwell, Des Tramacchi, Brummbaer and others. An 18x 20 cm art book edition with over 250 pages, it is fully illustrated with over 50 pages of colour paintings, photography and digital graphics from the Undergrowth art collective, including new works by regular Undergrowth contributors Gerhard Hillmann, Oliver Dunlop, Izwoz, Ahimsa, Tim Parish, Rak Razam and others.
The Journeybook is an essential handbook for those interested in the subject of consciousness, spirituality and understanding the rich pharmacopia of thought that exists beyond the confines of mainstream cosmology.

“Here we go, kids. Breathe in a lungful of petrol fumes and take flight, high on fossil fuels.
Scatter now, travel is cheap – but it won’t be forever. What if we are the last airborne generation?”
Crossing from the personal to the political, local to the global, Nomadology is an anthology of anecdotes, gonzo journalism, personal confessions and political reflections by digital gypsies on the nature of travel in a globalised world. Nomadology features unconventional travel stories with a consciousness that taps into a generation of young travellers seeking something more than the tourism circuits promoted by generic guidebooks and package holidays. From the central Australian desert to the red light districts of New Delhi, hitch-hiking across the USA with a pyromaniac gulf-war veteran to body-bagging in Thailand after the tsunami, or meeting the discoverer of LSD in Switzerland on his one hundredth birthday, the tales in Nomadology explore the world in a unique, yet personal way. What unites the stories is the question of what travel means in a globalised world. What is the connection between the modern backpacker and the philosophy of the nomad in traditional cultures, and how do we transcend the barriers of culture and connect with the places we are travelling through.
The Nomadology Book was the result of 18 months of writing through Undergrowth’s Nomadology website created with the support of the Australia Council for the Arts which employs blogging software that allows contributors to post coordinates of where and when they are writing their stories from. It was edited and designed, Timothy Parish, writer, video artist and founder of Undergrowth.org and Nicolas Low, an English Literature Post Graduate student at Melbourne University and designer of the Nomadology site .
The contributors to the book range from activists to artists, teachers to journalists, amateur shamans to itinerant performers.
